HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A person was found dead after a fire broke out at a homeless encampment in northeast Harris County Sunday.
The Eastex Fire Department said they responded around noon Sunday to the fire near Mount Houston Road and Varnell Street.

The department said units arrived to find a homeless encampment on fire.
Once the fire was extinguished, a person was found dead in the encampment.
The Harris County Fire Marshal was notified and the fire remains under investigation.
