Body found in trunk of burning vehicle in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating after a body was found in the trunk of a burning vehicle in southwest Houston on Saturday.

Police are awaiting autopsy results for the victim, who was found in the 14500 block of Nelson Street at about 6:30 a.m. The victim’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to reports of a vehicle fire on the side of the street. After extinguishing the fire, HFD paramedics reportedly found the body of a person in the trunk of the vehicle.

The HPD Homicide Division is working to determine what led up to the victim’s death.
