Large grass fire forces closure of nearby gun range in west Houston

HOUSTON – A large grass fire forced a nearby gun range to shut down in the far western part of Houston on Saturday.

The fire was reportedly in the 16500 block of Westheimer Parkway. Crews got the call at about 3:25 p.m.

The Houston Fire Department said the nearby American Shooting Center was closed as crews tried to put out the fire. The gun range said they might have interruptions opening on Sunday due to the fire.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
