Woman found dead in large apartment fire in northwest Harris County

HOUSTON – A woman is dead following a large apartment fire Thursday morning in northwest Harris County.

The fire was reported around 5 a.m. at The Park at Cumberland apartment complex, located at 505 Cypress Station Dr.

Ponderosa Fire Department Chief Fred Windisch said one building that consists of 12 apartment units was heavily damaged.

Windisch added that a woman was found dead in the fire and another person was transported to the hospital for anxiety.

It’s unknown how the fire started, but several fire crews from across the area are responding.
