Man, woman charged after 600g of meth, 2g of heroin, firearms seized during drug bust at New Caney residence

HOUSTON – A man and woman were taken into custody following a drug bust in New Caney, according to deputies with the Precinct 4 Constable “Rowdy” Hayden’s Office.

Deputies assisted a DEA Task Force in executing a felony warrant service at the residence, located in the 25000 block of Cambridge Boulevard.

During the investigation and warrant search, two suspects, Jose Cruz, 40, and Laura Cortez, 37, both of Houston, were arrested.

Deputies said nearly 600 grams of methamphetamine and 21 grams of heroin were found inside the residence. In addition, items reportedly used for packaging and processing narcotics for sale and transport were discovered, along with two firearms.

Cruz and Cortez were taken into custody on outstanding felony warrants for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance issued by Montgomery County. They also face two additional felony charges each for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
