To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice-making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a “vigorous rolling” boil and then heated for two minutes, a news release said.

According to a news release, children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, but residents in the MUD 151 public water system should follow the instructions.

Residents may also purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Anyone with questions or concerns is urged to contact Fort Bend County MUD 151 through its 24-hour customer service line at 281-398-8211.
