Man killed, 4 others injured during shooting at after-hours bar in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – A man is dead and four others were injured during a shooting at an after-hours club in southeast Houston Sunday morning.

The Houston Police Department said two men got into an argument in the parking lot of the after-hours bar located in the 9200 block of Gulf Freeway around 4:30 a.m.

Authorities said one of the men involved in the altercation was with his friends when he was confronted by a man with a gun. The situation was de-escalated, and the man with the gun eventually put his weapon away.

The victim went inside the bar, and moments later, the gunman also entered the bar and started shooting, striking five people.

Police said an officer had been near the area investigating a different scene when he was flagged down by a group of people running out of the club. The officer was able to respond and provide first aid to some of the victims.

The investigation is still ongoing, but officers believe alcohol played a factor in the shooting. The suspect has not yet been arrested, and no managers or owners of the bar could be located during the investigation, according to officers.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
