HOUSTON – Hi KPRC2 Insiders,

The Houston Texans are still in the honeymoon phase after the hiring of new head coach, DeMeco Ryans. The city is still buzzing after they nabbed the most sought-after candidate in the coaching hire, but now the attention will turn to how the Ryans will shape the rest of his staff, particularly on the offensive end.

According to KPRC 2 insider Aaron Wilson, Ryans has identified his former 49ers colleague Bobby Slowik to potentially be the new offensive coordinator. Slowik was the 49ers pass-game coordinator and has experience running the “West Coast” Offense that made San Francisco so successful in recent seasons.

There are also reports a “Kubiak,” no not Gary, but the former Texans’ head coach’s son, Klint Kubiak, could be tabbed as the quarterbacks coach.

What they’re saying

Jalen Pitre: “It’s a blessing to get to work with a guy like coach Ryans. I just want to bring my best to the table and help this team win. I’m looking forward to this season. It’s a blessing being able to play for somebody, not only doing good in coaching, but has had a great career.”

Dameon Pierce: “It feels good knowing we’ve got a coach that kind of has the same mentality that coach Lovie (Smith) had, and it’s easier to adjust to a new staff that has kind of the same philosophy that Coach Lovie had, so we already have it implemented with us so we can take it and run with it. That was a great system with the 49ers. They had success with Christian McCaffrey and (Raheem) Mostert, those types of guys. The system works.”
