HOUSTON – Three people were injured during a 10-vehicle car race on US-290 Sunday morning, according to the Waller County Deputies office.
Deputies responded to reports of several vehicles, including Lamborghinis and Porches, racing on the highway around 9 a.m.
Deputies attempted to shut down US-290 during the race, but before they could secure the roads, a Honda driver -- who was allegedly not paying attention -- slammed into a vehicle that was stopped in a line of traffic, causing a multi-vehicle crash.
A woman was taken to the hospital via LifeFlight in critical condition and two others were transported by ambulance in stable condition.
The 10 vehicles that were racing were issued citations, deputies said.
