Man struck, killed by oncoming vehicle near SE Houston intersection, police say

HOUSTON – A man was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle near a dark intersection early Sunday, police said.

It happened in the 13100 block of Galveston Road near Clear Lake City Boulevard shortly before 2 a.m.

According to Sgt. David Rose with HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, the man was walking on the road on Galveston Road when at some point he was hit by an unknown vehicle.

That vehicle left the scene and did not stop, police said. The man died at the scene.

Sgt. David Rose said another driver passed by the man on the ground. That driver stopped to attempt to help and called police.

Police do not have a clear description of the vehicle that struck the man, but believe it was a sedan. Parts of the vehicle were recovered at the scene.

“We’re going to do what we can so we can try and get video cameras from this area,” Sgt. David Rose said. “And our hit-and-run investigators will be following up and trying to essentially trace the car parts.”

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
