CAUGHT ON CAMERA: 3 children shot with air guns during drive-by in Mission Bend subdivision

RICHMOND, Texas – The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office is investigating a drive by shooting involving some sort of air gun after three young children were shot at while playing outside.

It happened Wednesday night near the intersection of Autumn Leigh Drive and Eaglewood Glen Trail in the Mission Bend area.

Surveillance cameras at a nearby home caught a dark colored SUV with four people inside pulling up to a group of children playing basketball and firing.

Parents and neighbors believe the suspects were using a BB or pellet gun.

“I asked my son, ‘Where did you get hit at with the thing?’ And he said, ‘On my forehead,’” said one of the children’s parents who asked to only be identified as Nikki.

That same parent said all three children were hit.

“I’m pretty sure they’re in high school, and they might think it’s always fun and games but really they aren’t looking at the long-term consequences of shooting somebody,” Nikki said.

Adam Colunga lives nearby. He said he gave two of the children rides home because they were too scared to walk.

Colunga told KPRC that this is the second time this has happened in their neighborhood.

“It happened about two weeks ago. I’m not sure [about] the circumstances but there were a bunch of kids playing at the park, and you know, they drive by again and start shooting at those kids at the park,” Colunga said. “One of the fathers was there, he actually chased them down in his vehicle and flagged down police to get them pulled over.”

A police report was filed with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office.

Nikki said she plans to press charges if the people responsible are caught.
