Investigation underway after woman found shot to death in roadway in northwest Houston

HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after police said a woman was found shot to death in the roadway in northwest Houston Thursday.

The Houston Police Department shared a tweet saying the woman was found around 7 a.m. in the 2800 block of Vollmer Road near T.C. Jester Boulevard.

Houston police said neighbors told them they heard gunshots around 6:30 a.m.

Someone driving their car in the area discovered the body half an hour later, police said.

Officers said the woman was already dead when paramedics arrived.

Investigators said they are looking for witnesses and surveillance video to help them solve this case.

“Anybody in the area if they saw any suspicious activity, heard a gunshot, saw a vehicle fleeing, we have no information at this time regarding if suspects were on foot, in a vehicle. We’re trying to get any information that we can,” Det. Eric May with Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division said.

Authorities are still working to learn more details about the incident.
