Surveillance video released in 2020 shooting that left 29-year-old dead

Police say shooting may have stemmed from traffic incident

Police have released a new surveillance video from a fatal shooting in hopes someone may be able to identify the shooter. (Daniela DiNapoli, HPD)

HOUSTON – Houston police have released a surveillance video from a fatal shooting in southwest Houston, hoping someone may be able to identify the shooter.

The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. on Nov. 27, 2020, at the Bella Luna Apartments on Glenmont Drive between Westward Street and Rampart Street, police said.

Authorities said the victim, 29-year-old Selvin Ramirez, and the suspected gunman had been involved in a minor accident in front of the apartment complex prior to the shooting.

Police said after the incident, Ramirez drove his Chevrolet pickup truck into the complex and the other driver who was in a Jeep followed him. In the surveillance footage, the Jeep can be seen leaving the apartment complex.

According to authorities, the driver of the Jeep returned shortly after and opened fire on Ramirez, who was talking with other men in the parking lot. A witness told authorities the driver of the Jeep just pulled up, fired a shot and fled the scene.

When police arrived, they said they found Ramirez dead in the parking lot from a gunshot wound.
