HPD: Father accidentally shoots 9-year-old son in the chest

Houston Police say a man accidentally shot his nine-year-old early Saturday.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. outside a residence in the 4500 block of Hershe Street.

Investigators were told the child was shot while the father was putting a firearm away.

The child was transported to the Texas Children’s Hospital for treatment. Police said the child is in serious but stable condition.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
