SUGAR LAND, Texas – Students in the Fort Bend Independent School District will be able to return to the playground during recess after changes were announced Friday to the district’s pandemic policies.

Under the new guidelines, students can begin using playground equipment again. Only one class will be allowed on the playground at a time, and students will be required to clean their hands before and after using the equipment.

The new guidelines also allow small groups of students within the same class will be able to use the equipment during recess. Each piece of equipment must be sanitized before and after use.

District officials said recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has allowed for these changes.
