36-year-old woman killed in Houston crash; Suspected drunken driver in hospital now charged

HOUSTON – A suspected drunken driver is now charged in a crash on Sunday that killed a 36-year-old woman who rode in the vehicle with him, police said Monday.

Eliud Isael Martinez Sanchez, 35, is charged with intoxication manslaughter after the crash at 6000 Glen Lee Drive on Sunday around 5:45 a.m.

Police said in a news release that Sanchez was driving a gray GMC Yukon westbound when he failed to drive in a single lane and drove into a ditch.  The GMC then struck the driveway of a residence, causing the truck to flip onto the driver’s side.  The woman – who has not been identified -- died at the scene.

Police said Sanchez is now being treated at an area hospital with serious injuries.
