Woman dead, man hospitalized following violent crash in north Harris County (KPRC 2)

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – One person is dead and another hospitalized following a violent crash in north Harris County Sunday morning, officials said.

At approximately 5:35 a.m., Houston police officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Glen Lee Drive in response to a one-vehicle accident. On arrival, units located a woman and a man inside a heavily damaged SUV.

The woman was extricated from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was transported to an area hospital and is expected to be okay.

Officials said the pair had been at a family gathering prior to the crash. As they were traveling westbound on Glen Lee Drive, the driver failed to maintain a single lane, drove into a nearby ditch and struck a concrete driveway culvert. On impact, the vehicle fell onto its side.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
