Man accused of killing dog by firing 10-15 shots at it while wearing clown mask

HOUSTON – A man is accused of killing a stray dog by shooting the animal 10-15 times while wearing a clown mask, according to court documents.

The incident was reported on Dec. 8 outside the Modern Food Store, located in the 13000 block of Northborough Drive.

Gabriel Posey, 21, has been charged with carrying a weapon on liquor license premises, cruelty to a non-livestock animal, deadly conduct by discharging a firearm and evading arrest.

The store’s surveillance video shows a brown-and-gray dog walking around in the parking lot of the store and also shows Posey standing in the parking lot, according to court documents. Posey leaves the area and comes back but this time wearing a white clown mask and walking toward the dog while carrying a black handgun, according to court documents.

Posey is then seen pointing the gun at the dog and firing 10-15 shots at the animal before running from the scene, according to court records.

Officers responded to the scene to collect the shell casings and review surveillance video, according to records. Investigators were able to identify the suspect based on the previous video showing him without the clown mask, records show. Posey was then identified from previous mug shots, records show. He was located and arrested later that same day, according to court records.

According to court documents, Posey confessed to shooting the dog. The clown mask and jacket he was wearing at the time of the shooting were also recovered, according to the documents.

Posey was booked into Harris County Jail and his bond amount for each charge totaled at $31,500.
