HPD: Red-Light Runner Hits Light-Rail Train

HOUSTON – A driver slammed into a METRORail light-rail train in southeast Houston Friday, officials said.

Investigators said the crash occurred on Greenbriar Drive at Old Spanish Trail at 6:30 a.m.

Police said the driver went through a red light.

The driver was injured and taken to Ben Taub Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No one else was hurt.

Officers said the driver will be ticketed for running the light,

METRO officials said the train and tracks were not damaged and operating as scheduled.
