ExxonMobil contract worker killed at Beaumont refinery

BEAUMONT, Texas – A contract worker was killed Wednesday while on the job at the ExxonMobil Beaumont facility, officials said.

A spokesperson for the company said the worker was killed at around 12:30 a.m. "in a unit that was under maintenance."

ExxonMobil Corporation released the following statement concerning the incident:

“We regret that a contractor was fatally injured in an incident at a unit under maintenance at the Beaumont refinery.
We have notified the appropriate authorities and are working to investigate the cause of the incident.
We are greatly saddened by this and express our deepest sympathy to his family and his co-workers.”

The name of the contract worker has not yet been released.
