HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Two women were hospitalized and a dog was killed after they were mauled by dogs early Friday morning in Hollywood.
According to a representative with Broward Animal Care & Adoption, two American bulldogs went on the attack as the women walked a terrier in a trailer park along Buchanan Street around 1 a.m. The terrier was killed and both women were bitten and taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. Information on the injuries they sustained was not immediately released.

One of the dogs, Daisy, is a 9-year-old, it was captured and returned to its owner, Ricky Swearengin, where it is under quarantine. The other dog, Duke, is 7-year-old brown and white American bulldog, ran away but was later found.
"I'm sorry that it all happened, I'm sorry for her pet that she lost," said Swearengin. He and one of the victims are neighbors, according to Swearengin.
Swearengin says the dogs are trained to hunt but have never hurt anyone before.
One of the victims is expected to be released from the hospital today. Local 10 has learned the other victim will remain at Memorial Regional Hospital.
Swearengin was issued six citations.
