Barbecue benefit held for families of slain Baytown teens

BAYTOWN, Texas – As two of the men accused of killing two Baytown teens sit behind bars, the community is helping the victims' families Sunday.

Jarvis Morgan and Alex Chavez were missing for two weeks before their bodies were found in a Chambers County Bayou. A benefit for the families was held Sunday in Baytown.

Community members showed up to a barbecue, where profits from the food sales were collected for Chavez and Morgan's funeral expenses.

Police arrested and charged Valentin Lazo Jr., 27, and Richard Gonzalez, 21, with capital murder in connection to their deaths.

"I'm thankful that justice for Jarvis and Alex is finally being done," Morgan's mother, Sharon Bernard said. "I'm ready for them to catch the other ones that took my son's life and Alex's life.

Police are still on the hunt for two more men believed to be involved in the murders.

Brandon Flores is a suspect wanted for capital murder. Jose Juan Chavez is a person of interest.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Flores or Chavez is asked to call the Baytown Police Department at 281-422-8371 or Baytown Crime Stoppers 281-427-TIPS (8477).
