Severe weather is possible across the Houston area on Wednesday as a storm system moves through Southeast Texas, bringing the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms.
Forecasters say the primary concern will be damaging winds, with a 5–15% probability, along with a 2–5% chance of tornadoes and about a 5% chance of large hail.
Storms could develop at times throughout the day, especially as the atmosphere becomes more unstable ahead of a passing front.
The greatest risk area is generally north of the Houston metro and east of Caldwell, where the Storm Prediction Center has placed communities under a “slight risk” (level 2 out of 5) for severe weather.
The rest of Southeast Texas, including much of the Houston area, remains under a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5).
Even with the lower category, forecasters say isolated severe storms are still possible, meaning residents should stay weather aware in case warnings are issued.
