Man Questioned, Released in Connection to Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie

Authorities in Tucson, Arizona, have detained a man for questioning in the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie. The detainment followed the FBI’s release of surveillance footage showing a masked, armed individual outside Guthrie’s home the night she went missing on January 31. It remains unclear whether the person detained is the same individual seen in the video, and the FBI, along with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, are conducting a court-authorized search of a location in Rio Rico tied to the investigation. Guthrie has not been found, and the case remains active with authorities urging public tips.


Shootings at School and Home in British Columbia, Canada, Leave 10 Dead, Including Suspect

In Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, a mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a nearby home has resulted in at least 10 fatalities, including the shooter, and more than 25 injuries. Canadian authorities say multiple victims were found dead at the school, with additional victims discovered at a residence believed to be connected to the attack. The suspected shooter, believed to be a woman, was found dead from what appears to be a self-inflicted injury. In Spring, Texas, authorities responded to a shooting that left a 16-year-old juvenile with multiple gunshot wounds following an attempted robbery tied to an online marketplace meet-up at an apartment complex. Precinct 4 deputies launched a heavy law enforcement response, and the teen was transported to a hospital. Man Shoots Suspect After Leaving Gun Range in Southwest Houston

Houston police are investigating an incident of “gun jugging,” a robbery attempt where criminals follow a victim from a gun range, after a man was reportedly followed home by suspects and engaged in a shootout. According to law enforcement, the victim had just left a local gun range when three suspects followed him and tried to take a bag containing guns. The victim, armed himself, shot one suspect in the chin, who was later hospitalized and is expected to survive. The other suspects fled the scene.
