Lightning strikes canopy and tree (Cresson Volunteer Fire Department)
TARRANT COUNTY, Texas – First responders say 14 people at a park near Fort Worth were hurt after lightning struck the canopy they were taking shelter under as storms swept through the area Sunday.

The incident happened at Mustang Park near the City of Benbrook, which is located in Tarrant County just southwest of Fort Worth.
The Cresson Volunteer Fire Department says the group had taken cover under the canopy around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday as the storms were blowing through.
A bolt of lightning then struck the canopy, also impacting a nearby tree and vehicle.
Two people were transported to an area hospital. The remaining 12 were treated at the scene.
