Covestro to invest $1.7B in new MDI plant in Baytown

BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown will be home to a $1.7 billion plant in the future.

Officials with the company Covestro announced the project Tuesday morning. 

The company plans to build a "world-scale" MDI plant in Baytown, with startup scheduled for 2024.

MDI is used in the manufacture of polyurethanes, which are used in furniture, construction and automobiles.
