Houston holiday tradition: Long lines form for Flying Saucer Pies

HOUSTON – It's time to break out the checklist for your thanksgiving feast: turkey, check. Potatoes, check. But, what about those holiday pies!

It's a holiday tradition in Houston for customers on the hunt the perfect Thanksgiving pie to line up for blocks outside Flying Saucers Pies on Crosstimbers.

Though the line wrapped around the building early Wednesday morning, it is expected to get a lot longer later in the day.

The general manager said it's better to buy cream pies Wednesday because they are made fresh and will still taste perfect on Thanksgiving.

She said she expects the shop to sell 10,000 pies over a three-day period.

The shop has been open 24 hours a day since last week and will close for the holiday at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
