Astros' Lance McCullers visits Meadowlake Pet Resort

HOUSTON – Celebrations are abound for Astros fans of all kinds, including the four-legged variety.

Tuesday, one party went to the dogs at Meadowlake Pet Resort where the honored guest was World Series game 7 Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr.

Some of the canines came dressed in their Astros best while others simply took the time to congratulate the World Series champion by playing fetch.

The event wasn't purely for pup enjoyment.

Owners were asked to donate at least $15 for each dog dropped at the day care.

All of the funds raised went to the Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation to benefit animals that were still searching for their forever homes.

“We kind of started off just really wanting to impact the community and then save as many dogs and animals from the shelters around Houston as possible,” McCullers said. “We’ve really kind of turned it into a grant program. We’re taking a lot of the money people have donated and trying to give it back to actual animals that wouldn't have much of a shot without people’s help.”
