Astros fans stand in long lines to watch historic Game 4 of World Series

HOUSTON – The Astros fever was hot in die-hard fans willing to stand for hours to watch history.

One man paid $800 dollars for a ticket.

“Since we came to the World Series in 2005 and got swept,” he said, 'I said I have to be here'”

Another man waited for almost 12 hours to get inside the stadium.

“I wanted to be first in line and make sure I get my spot in the front row,” he said.

But, it’s Valentin Jalomo who knows it all too well.

“I think the Astros are going to win it today and tomorrow. That would be it,” Jalomo said.

With his long, curly mustache and straw cowboy hat filled with pins, Jaloma has been an Astros fan for 52 years. He has season tickets, but decides to stand, and he’s done it for 17 years.

“I stand over there by the fuel pump in left field. There you can see everything and then the fans coming by taking pictures of me,” Jaloma said.

They take pictures with him because he’s really a celebrity, known to many as the “standing room only” guy.

“To a lot of people, he’s a celebrity, to some of us here, he’s a friend. An awesome friend,” said Nguyen Le.

Just like games in the past 17 years, he stands for the World Series.

At 78-years-old, Jaloma said it’s not hard to stand to watch the long games. He said his knees actually start hurting if he sits too much.
