Taxi-cab driver shot, killed in north Houston

A taxi-cab driver is dead after deputies say he was allegedly shot by a passenger at a gas station in north Houston Sunday morning.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was shot at a Stripes Gas Station on the North Freeway and Airtex Drive around 1 a.m.

Deputies say a witness reported that the taxi-cab driver was dragged from his vehicle and several shots were fired. 

The driver managed to drive off, and later pulled into an office building parking lot on the North Freeway at West Dyna Drive.

Deputies say a passerby saw the man’s body partially out of the vehicle and called police.

Deputies say he passed out in the parking lot and died.

According to investigators the person who shot him fled the original scene.

A motive is unknown.

The victim has not been identified.
