Autopsy report shows Alva Braziel had drugs in system during shooting
HOUSTON – The autopsy shows Alva Braziel tested positive for marijuana, PCP and meth.
It also shows that a bag of pills was removed from inside a body cavity.
The autopsy lists his cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds to the neck, torso and lower extremities. His manner of death is listed as homicide. Braziel died July 9, 2016 when he was shot 11 times.
Investigators said two officers were patrolling in the area of Cullen Boulevard and Ward Street in southeast Houston when they noticed the 38-year old Braziel with a gun.
They said Braziel first pointed the gun in the sky and then at the officers. They said that was when officers fired at Braziel, killing him.
No officers were indicted in this case.
We reached out to Braziel's family for a response to the autopsy showing drugs in his system but they declined to comment.
