JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Florida law enforcement officer is being praised for a number of reasons – but most notably for his physique -- after he rescued a woman from drowning in a river.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Billy Irvin is being hailed a hero after he jumped in the water to pull a woman from the St. Johns River on Tuesday.

A group of three construction workers saw what was going on and helped Irvin pull the woman from the water onto their boat.

A photo taken of Irvin in his wet clothes after the rescue is going viral.

Police did not release information on the woman's identity, her condition or how she ended up in the river, WJXT reported.

The post on the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page has been shared more than 600 times as of this writing.

The law enforcement page reads: “He is a hero to all of us and all of the people who witnessed this going on. So many citizens came up just to shake his hand thanking him for his heroic efforts. … Irvin went above and beyond the call of duty. Risking his life to save another. Amazing job Sgt. Irvin.”

Many are leaving comments on the post about the heroics -- and Irvin's look.

David Bishop wrote: "I think they may have a new epidemic of more women jumping into the river waving their hands when he is on shift...just sayin."

"Thanks for going above and beyond call of duty with your fine and handsome self," Ramona Fite wrote.

Another, Tajuana L Carmichael, wrote: "Great job officer. I really thought this was a pic from a movie! I wonder how many will be saving this picture in their phones."
