Girl, 10, dies after horse falls on her during rodeo barrel racing in Caldwell

CALDWELL, Texas – A 10-year-old cowgirl was killed Saturday after her horse fell on top of her during a barrel racing competition at a rodeo in Caldwell, according to KBTX News.

Piper Faust died right before competing when her horse got spooked and fell backward on top of her, according to KBTX News.

Family memebers said on a GoFundMe account page that Piper spent her last moments doing what she loved, which was barrel racing.

According to reports, Piper made a huge impact in her community and was described as competitive, determined, energetic, and helpful. Faust’s father, Brian Faust, said the community adored her and was drawn in by her bright smile and personality.

Several events are scheduled to honor Piper.
