Boys see hair as only difference between them; get matching cuts to trick teacher
Jax's mom took to Facebook to send message about prejudice
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Two little boys from Louisville had a brilliant idea over the weekend – if they got matching haircuts, their teacher wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.
Since the best friends are just 5 years old, Jax and Reddy, weren't able to cut their hair without their parents driving them to a barber, so they filled them in on their plot.
"This morning, Jax and I were discussing his wild hair," his mom Lydia Stith Rosebush wrote on Facebook. "I told him that he needed a haircut this weekend. He said that he wanted his head shaved really short so he could look like his friend Reddy. He said he couldn't wait to go to school on Monday with his hair like Reddy's so that his teacher wouldn't be able to tell them apart. He thought it would be so hilarious to confuse his teacher with the same haircut."
There is one difference between the two boys – their skin color.
Jax is white.
Reddy is black.
But the boys don’t see that difference – to them, their hair cuts are their only difference.
"If this isn't proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught, I don’t know what is," Rosebush wrote. "The only difference Jax sees in the two of them is their hair."
Jax got his hair cut over the weekend, with his best friend by his side.
The boys laughed and smiled at each other while the hair cut took place, and WAVE was there to capture the moment.
They even hugged after the cut was complete.
There's no word on how the teacher responded, but clearly she may have a hard time telling them apart.
