HOUSTON – If you want to avoid the headache of traffic to the Super Bowl, there’s now an opportunity to fly in a chopper that travels nearly 200 mph.
Era Helicopters offers passengers a six minute flight from Hobby Airport to the Wildcat Golf Club not far from NRG Stadium.
Era has spent nearly 70 years transporting VIP’s in style.
They said it’s a way you can fly from the airports to the game and avoid the traffic.
Evan Sikorski of Era Helicopters said, "It's a VIP experience where you've got a lot of corporate and private jets coming in from around the country, approximately 1,400 we've heard coming into the Houston area.”
The price per flight is $5,000 and the helicopter can carry six passengers.
Typically, the customers are "just people that (think) time is important ... A lot of these flights are coming in and out same day," Sikorski said. “The helicopter can do something airplanes can't do and that's land outside the airport environment."
The company was selling about 24 of the flights from Bush and Hobby airports. It’s one way to see and experience the Super Bowl in first class.
"They're bringing their private jet in from maybe NYC and we take that last leg of that relay and then its ground transport and black car service over to the stadium," Sikorski said.
