18-year-old fatally shot outside movie theater identified

HOUSTON – Family members have identified the 18-year-old who shot and killed in a Cypress Movie Theater parking lot as Danny Barron, a former student at Cy-Spring High School.

Barron and another man were shot Sunday, about 9:45 p.m., as they sat inside Barron's car, a 2009 Toyota Camry.

The car was parked about 30 yards from the front door of the Studio Movie Grill at 8580 Highway 6 north in Cypress.

The condition of Barron's friend was not clear.

"There was a lot of blood and he just slumped against the ticket counter," Jana Bell, a theater patron, said.

Bell was not sure which man managed to make it into the theater, but she said it appeared that the man died in the lobby.

The other victim, whose name has not been verified by authorities or the victim's family member, was said to be Barron's best friend.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the slaying.

The motive for the crime and who committed it remained unanswered questions Monday.

Another theatergoer said the area is known for drug activity, but the claim could not be verified.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Harris County Homicide Unit at 713-967-5810 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
