President George H.W. Bush shares happy update on cancer victim for whom he shaved head

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – President George H. W. Bush shared a nice update on Patrick, the child of a Secret Service detail member who was diagnosed with leukemia.

Bush volunteered to shave his head to show his support for Patrick in 2013. Patrick, whose father Jon is a member of the Bush Protective Division (BPD), was being treated for leukemia and started losing his hair.

The 89-year-old former commander in chief took the unusual step after learning and seeing that many members of his security detail had already gone under the razor to show their support for Patrick.

"Incredibly #thankful that my friend Patrick, the courageous young man (with hair!) to my left, is feeling and doing much better these days," Bush posted on Twitter.

The Bushes lost their second child, 4-year-old Robin, to leukemia 63 years ago.
