RICHMOND, Texas – Residents in a neighborhood in Fort Bend County are on alert after a series of car break-ins last week.
Surveillance video shows a man walking up to a vehicle in the Pecan Lakes neighborhood, near Pecan Grove, and checking for unlocked car doors. The video was recorded Thursday morning.
"They're just two guys we've seen," said Conley Shepherd, whose truck was broken into. Shepherd said thieves stole a gun he had in a console.
"My heart sunk, you know? I knew that something had happened and I looked in my console and my weapon was missing," Shepherd said.
Shepherd told KPRC2 he locked his truck the night it was broken into but somehow that proved no match.
"Anger and feeling violated. You know that somebody has taken something you worked hard for and it's not there anymore. It's just sick," he said.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office is investigating.
