WHARTON COUNTY, Texas – Officials have positively identified remains found in Wharton County late last year as those of a girl who disappeared 25 years ago.
Rosemary Diaz was reported missing in November 1990. She was last seen at Dane's Country Store on Highway 71 South in Danevang, more than 70 miles southwest of Houston.

Last November, officials found human remains in a grassy field off County Road 403 in Matagorda County. A ring that was given to Diaz on her 15th birthday was also found with the remains.
On Thursday, officials confirmed the remains are those of Diaz.
According to investigators, the field where Diaz's remains were found belongs to the family of the man who killed Diaz. While on his death bed in 2012, he confessed to his family that he killed her.
The man's family was not involved in Diaz's death, investigators said.
Investigators said that while their missing person case for Diaz has been closed, they are still investigating her death as a homicide.
