MARIN COUNTY, Calif. – The mother of renown rapper Tupac Shakur, Afeni Shakur Davis, has died.
Davis died Monday night in Marin County, according to the Marin County Sheriff.

Deputies responded to a cardiac arrest call at Davis' home in Sausalto. She was transported to the hospital where she later died.
Davis was a businesswoman, philanthropist and political activist.
Tupac's mother was the inspiration for the song, "Dear Mama." She also appeared in the video.
"You always was committed. A poor single mother on welfare tell how you did it. There's now way I can pay you back, but the plan is to show you that I understand," Tupac rapped.
Tupac was famously shot Sept. 7, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 25. The shooter has never been caught.
