Teacher arrested for slapping student across head

BEAUMONT, Texas – A high school math teacher in Beaumont is on administrative leave after a video found on Twitter shows her assaulting a student.
According to NBCNews.com
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Hastings was arrested on one count of assault and posted $2,500 bond.
A press release from the Beaumont Independent School District says, "The teacher was immediately removed from the classroom and placed on administrative leave pending action on her contract."
This is Hastings' third year teaching for the district.
There is no word on what provoked Hastings to hit the student.
