Pot shop explosion caught on video

SANTA FE, NM – The New Mexico Environment Department Tuesday released shocking video of a medical marijuana dispensary explosion that left two employees severely burned last July.

The department is in the midst of wrapping up its investigation of the explosion, which happened at NewMexiCann Natural Medicine Cannabis Clinic when workers were apparently using butane to extract THC from marijuana to make cannabis oil.

The room is seen instantly filling with flames. One worker struggles to open a nearby door and escape, and another is seen seconds later running and jumping through the flames to get out.

Both men suffered third-degree burns in the explosion.

The Santa Fe-based dispensary is one of dozens licensed in the state. It received a fine from the federal Occupation Safety and Health Administration for $13,500 as a result of the blast.
