WATCH: Family finds 300-pound gator in pool

LAKELAND, Fla. – A Lakeland, Florida man made a frightening discovery when he arrived home from work Tuesday.

Craig Lear found a 300 pound, 9-foot alligator in his backyard swimming pool.

Lear became suspicious when he saw bubbles floating up to the surface. That's when he realized there was an alligator at the bottom.

Laura Lear pulled out her phone and started recording the incident.

"This is something I see on the news," Laura told WFLA. "Not in my backyard. I saw him and I was like that's no gator, that's a big gator."

They believe the alligator came from the lake behind their house and broke through the screen.
