SPRING, Texas – It’s their very first Christmas as husband and wife, but for Marine Corps veteran Josh Beaver and his new bride, Erin, this Christmas will come without any presents at all.
"All of the sudden it hits you, it’s all gone and you can’t get it back," Erin said.
The Grinch-like thieves broke into the couple's Forest Ridge home in Spring through a back window at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. They rifled through some drawers and stole a television, but their main target was the gifts under the Christmas tree.
In all, the couple estimates they lost $3,000 in gifts.
"They stole our TV, they stole an iPad, two PlayStations, a Nook and all of the presents we had bought for our entire family," Erin said.
But the thieves stole much more than just presents. Josh’s 10-year-old son, Ryan, is now said to be afraid to be in the house, and for Josh, who served four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and has been shot five times in combat, this robbery was the ultimate slap in the face.
"To do everything that I’ve done, had to do, losing my friends and bleeding like I did, to be robbed by one of my own countrymen, how dare you," Josh said. "How dare you do that to this hard-working family."
If you have any information about the burglary, you are asked to call the Harris County Precinct 4 Constables office.
