Newspaper apologizes for fake Santa obituary No description found
HOUSTON – A newspaper in Norway is apologizing after accidentally publishing an obituary for Santa Claus.
The Aftenposten paper, Norway's second largest paper, wrote that Father Christmas died on December 3 at the age of 226 in the northern most part of the country, Nordkapp. His funeral would be held on December 28 at the North Pole chapel.
The fake obituary forced the paper's editors to issue an apology, saying that the Aftenposten regrets running the ad and that it violated its guidelines for obituary content.
The paper says "an error in the Aftenposten's internal procedures" led to the obituary being published in its digital systems. The ad has since been removed from its website.
