ROSENBERG, Texas – Police dash cam video recorded in August of 2014 shows a Rosenberg police officer pulling over Alonzo Gonzalez near Hwy. 59 and FM 762.

Police said the reason was that Gonzalez failed to signal a turn.

But when Gonzalez disclosed he had a concealed handgun license and was carrying, he said things changed.

In the dashcam video, police Officer Schnacky asked, "You have your handgun with you today?"
Gonzalez replied, "I sure do."

Gonzalez claimed he was targeted because he was legally carrying a gun. Rosenberg police said that is not the case.

"The officer's actions were within policy," said Lt. William Henry of the Rosenberg Police Department.
Lt. Henry said Gonzalez' claims were investigated when he filed a complaint after his case was over in May of this year.

That was 10 months after the traffic stop and arrest.
Lt. Henry said, "We don't target people with handgun licenses. We don't target gun owners in general. Any responsible gun owner...we're not out targeting people like that. As far as what the officer perceived, the officer perceived a threat."

Gonzalez said he filed his first complaint in August of 2014, within days of the traffic stop and arrest.
He said he did not threaten the officer.

He told KPRC 2, "Asked questions. By asking questions, you're automatically labeled as argumentative. And having a weapon on you automatically makes you dangerous."

Gonzalez said he wanted the arrest removed from his record and about $500 refunded for the cost of getting out of jail and getting his truck back.

Rosenberg police said the officer involved in the traffic stop resigned and is no longer with the department.
