Man shot to death at Travelodge hotel in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened Thursday at a motel in southeast Houston.

Investigators said it happened at about 10 p.m. Thursday at a Traveldoge at 9902 Interstate 45.

"Officers arrived on scene and were directed to a unit on the third-floor where the door was ajar and officers went in the apartment and found the male deceased from several gunshot wounds," Officer K. Elliott said.

Investigators said there were no signs of forced entry into the third-floor unit.

"Based on what it looks like inside the room, it looks like a room that is lived in, it is not a transient resident. It looks like they were staying here long term," said Elliott.

The motive behind the shooting is still to be determined.

Witnesses told police they saw a silver or white four-door sedan leaving the hotel shortly after the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Houston Police Department's homicide division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
