Man living on yard for months told to leave property

Sharafat Khan left property voluntarily in taxi, police say

SEABROOK, Texas – After six months of sleeping on his front lawn, Lakeview police officers told Sharafat Khan it was time to go.

"I am relieved it is over and the man will not be sleeping in the lawn anymore, and wherever he was taken, that he will have a warm bed and a bath and some food," said neighbor Laurel Stout.

Neighbors said Khan has been sleeping and living in the yard for months after his wife, a local doctor, kicked him out of their million-dollar mansion.

"I could see him out my window every morning, just sitting there," Stout said.

The Kahn's divorce was finalized Wednesday and, according to court documents, the "Respondent, Sharafat Khan, although duly and properly cited, did not appear and wholly made default."

Because of Khan's absence, the home was granted to Kahn's wife.

"The police were given whatever paperwork that they had to serve on him to evict him from the property," Stout said.

Police said Kahn left the property voluntarily in a taxi. KPRC 2 tried reaching out to his son to find out where he was going, but we haven't heard back.
