Conroe police showed up a few minutes later and had to climb over the bed of the truck to reach the driver.
Officers said Travis Carver, 21, was asleep behind the wheel. They called for emergency medical services and paramedics also had to climb their way in.
Carver woke up and officers took him out of the truck, where they said he failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
"He was actually able to come through the bushes, over the curb (and) miss the giant oak tree that's right there at the corner of the building," said owner Schelle Davis. "We're very glad there were no serious injuries."
Davis said with help from employees and other Painting with a Twist owners, they were able to get everything cleaned up and opened the store for business later that day.
