HOUSTON – Family members are pleading for answers after a man was found shot to death outside a sports bar in southwest Houston.
Relatives identify the victim as 30-year-old Larry White, also known as "Cali."
Homicide investigators responded around 2:20 a.m. Sunday to a shooting near Sleepy's Po-Boys in the 9500 block of South Main.
When Houston police arrived, they found a man lying dead outside the front door of the sandwich shop. Police said the man was leaving Carrington's Sports Bar and was walking next door to get something to eat.
"The victim got out of the club with his friend. He was going to the restaurant Sleepy's to buy some food. Right before he got into the restaurant he was shot in the head one time," said HPD Homicide investigator Cheng Liu.
According to investigators, it appears the shooter waited for the victim behind a pillar and shot him in the head.
Police said there were over 500 people in the parking lot leaving the sports bar and 11 off-duty deputies were working security at the time of the shooting.
Investigators said one of those deputies heard shots being fired.
"He saw people running away but he didn't see the shooter." said Liu.
No word on the motive for the shooting and no suspects are in custody.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the scene.
